I think the market out there is not too bad since everybody tell me the market out there is good.
Fresh grad always have high expectation on salary.
It's all depends on your working experiences, education only mean something when you work long enough and get to management lor
My brother is ComSci Grad from UVic too la
his first job, starting salary was 30K+...for a programmer which is very low and especially he was the only university grad in the whole company back then....... that's very ****ty
but after years of working experience and salary raises, he just got hired as project manager or team leader (can't recall his title) in telus ...
so twin, your friend just need to work hard to gain more experience and it will reward ga la
yeah...
but my Livestock A who didn't finish any post secondary school recently got a job 1 block away from my Livestock B....but she makes 35 annually for an office job i think sometimes really d ...
i know this is very stupid...somehow the employment system here discourages people to got o post-secondary education because the salary that a high school grad get can be equal or even better than the money that a university graduate can get...
for example navcanada (agency that hires air traffic controllers) hires high school graduates....after training for 1 year...you get like 30k/year pay...and after in-job training...you start minimum 50k/year!...max goes to around 100k per year!

Try to be a traffic controller before you use this as an exmaple to bash the system?
There are lots of jobs that don't require post secondary and easily over 50k per year, but trust me, you don't want (or most people don't want) to get into those fields.
The market is indeed very hot this year. My friend who is also a CGA said never has her seen a market like this: She applied 5 jobs and all 5 jobs desperately want her. I am definitely going to look for another job before I return to work after mat leave.
Sazabi,
i'm back.
omg... the first interview...so STUPID. even if hire me, i won't take it lah. fcuk man! it's not a scam, but misleading. i sat through the 30 mins interview & i know the job description, but i have no fcukin idea what the company does. waste of my time.
I think the job market is relatively active. My brother had two job offers within a month. He took the first job in town and after working there for less than a month, telus from Vancouver contacted him and hired him and they are willing to pay for the moving expenses. So I would say, if you have the right education nor experience, it shouldn't be too hard to find a job.
With accounting field, I think the current market is active. I see job postings everywhere on different job seeking website.
