let's say USA, i have a caucasian friend who works in the same field, married a chinese wife. he got job offer for working in austin, texas. he is making almost double what he made in vancouver, but his wife doesn't like the ethnicity distribution in that area, eventually they want to move to west, like LA, or back to vancouver. i was tempted to apply for the salary increase as he was looking to expand his team, as i'm bounded to vancouver. the company is willing to pay for the airfare + accommodation for interviews, and apply h1b(or whatever visa it is…) eventually a green card.
for spain……….my coworker, who is originally from the uk, studied in sfu got her mba, got laid off by the company, she was in the marketing team. she couldn't find job in vancouver. then she moved to spain to try out because she travelled there before and liked it…surprisingly, she has been getting free lance job one after another, she doesn't speak spanish….maybe she has an edge of what she does comparing to the local…since spain unemployment rate has been raising since 07
myself, couldn't find job after graduated, it was after the tech bubble. all company in vancouver required 2 years plus working experience. i moved to hk, spent a few months looking for job..fruitless. then went to dongguan, worked as a merchandiser, which i had no experience, not paid, but accommodation provided…at least that was a starting point, then later i got a job in tech related position, the salary was same as local, not most people would think a foreigner should be getting…it's okay… then i was able to get job in hk..eventually back here.
back to your question: 只係想知你有冇一兩個城市覺得工作同居住方面都幾適合
for job availability/cost of living/etc..., internet is a great resource, for suitability, you won't know until you are actually there.
my coworkers in china were very friendly, they were all from different part of china, they are more passionate than i anticipated. but i didn't feel the city is safe, as i've witnessed robbery, fighting and etc… if i were to try a place that i've never been to before, i would consider emerging countries, just to explore what is out there, at least they seem to have opening that matches my skill set
for those who have worked in places other than hk/canada, feel free to comment |
