From your article, it sounds to me tho, that we've always been paying PST on food and such anyways then? It's was just embedded into the food prices? If that's the case, HST or GST + PST it's all gonna be the same...?
What we need to figure out is, what is currently truly GST only (nobody pays, retailer or consumer). Further more, we need to figure out what was truly GST only and is going to become HST. That, to me, is the net difference of what we will be made to pay more.
Besides, if the province want to increase their tax base, there's nth 'wrong' about it (Aside from the execution perhaps). What, you want them to be like NDP and just increase stimulus and reduce tax at the same time for literally forever until we have to issue IOU like California?

Who can guarantee that the businesses will lower their prices for not having to pay PST themselves?
Also, taxing more and more just means the government will waste more and more.

What can I get rebate on besides buying a new house over 400k? How many people qualify for HST credit and what's the requirement?
