Background? SFU Engineering law.... -____-

I still touch codes, so I still make peon pay.....

being a peon, and peon pay are not necessary bad things.  consider it's an advantage for job security in these laid-off seasons.  Think about that: the people who make double your pay and don't touch code might have double the chance to be axed.

I dunno.. for my company, adjusted to the percentage of workforce that's management and peon, I'd say the layoff chance is abt the same.

Peon: "Work, work", "Something need doing?" "Be happy to..."

I do, but I don't see the purpose other than letting people your identity and where you work.

the thing is, are you going to "poke" people whom you don't know or rarely contact for new opportunity?  I personally can't/won't do it.

it's like facebook for IT; but for job hunting, monster is still the king.  (t-net is next)

trust me on that one ... managers have much higher chance to be axed. when the CFO jumps, the company shakes.  it's the total salary cut the CFO is looking for.  it's far easier to have 1 manager to do 2 managers job than having 1 programmer to do 2 programmers job.

of course, if your project isn't profitable then it's a different story.

I'm not sure what it is for either... I guess for developers to come together, networking, etc...?
