"made it to oversteer with throttle control" how? when to use oversteer to your advantage?
"dunno what alignment (just know it needs one)" how to find out?
"his car was actually quite impressive", in what way?
"needs sth that he can pick up the rpm faster", Underdrive Pulley!!??
"better throttle response", drive by wire electronic system, can't do much...

when you are coming into a corner kinda hot, your car will start under-steering then if you lift the throttle (depends on setup, some can only lift partially some u have to lift it all plus might even need to trail brake) to make the rear kicks out.
get ur alignment done then you will know how bad it was and what can be improved
like what i told you yesterday, first one and i got it 2 sec slower than derek's car with additional mod, i think derek's car can do better if we get chance to cool down the tire; and we have gone thru what he might have to "adjust" for his setup...as for yours, like i said, better tires, proper alignment, decent suspension will turn your car into a diff world, when one doesn't have to slow down that much around the corner, it helps the car to pick up in straight...
honda's crank pulley is harmonic balancer, i won't recommend aftermarket's...
better air filter and maybe something additional for rpm to go up faster (AT can't really benefits from intake system), high flow cat with smaller or no resonator or even decent cat back exhaust...
jackie's fit is also drive by wire, but with his setup i dun feel the "sluggish"...if he practices more i am sure he can do better...just see how his FiT can get so close to my time in derek's SiR...it's supposed to have a much smaller engine, less power, not as good suspension geometry, similar performance summer tires (even tho derek's is much newer) etc...maybe he is now doing even better than i do, my driving is going backwards lol...but after some pointers derek and jackie both got relatively decent result thru out the day and i am sure with some more practice they will soon go pass what i can do and have fun with those senior drivers...
like derek says, i think my skill gets rusty after no auto-x events for 5 years and no track days for 2 years+...one gotta know his own car better than anyone else ~ like Manesa can do so much better than Barry in her miata for a reason |
