    Yeah I rarely buy fruit from "western" supermarket though. Either too expensive and quality usually not that great.

usually buy fruits from vegetable stall near my place or ... whole foods.. when they are on sale.

Actually, at superstore I had the experience where a Mandarin speaking guy in front of me had waaaay more than 12 items. I tapped him on the shoulder and pointed at the said: "this lane is for 12 items....". He looked at me and then just ignored me.
