If Professional jobs which require professional degrees/skills cannot afford a middle class wages, do you think we have a problem in this city, my friends?

    There are many professional jobs that can't get $75000 either. Accountant is professional, pharmacist is also professional. Vancouver is expensive city to live, everybody knows. When many of us don't have that 5% increase every year, it's just not the right time to ask that much. I think 4% is more reasonable.

I always send email to any thing that doesnt' seem right and fair to me.  This is not my first time.   

Simple question for you, unless you are teacher.  Are you willing to pay more extra from your income for the teacher's raise?  

One thing you have to think about is. after Teacher union get its raise, then all the other public service union will ask for the same thing.  Our gov't has no money, so either cut some services, or raise debt, or raise tax.  What do you want? DF

2. Are I willing to pay more for teacher's raise?  What is your logic here?  Can you order a fillet mignon and you only want to pay for cheese burger prices? Go ask Rob Feenie
3.  Raise tax/debt.  What is your logic here?  Maybe we should cancelled public education, because that way we can pay less taxes?

The discussion so far here is:  "If I am not pay properly, nobody should".  It sure make sure we race to the bottom very fast.  Try thank about  "How can we insure everyone is paid a living wage" once a while.

Middle Class is losing ground very fast for the last 10-15 years.  Petty soon we are going back to dog-eat-dog day.

It never seize to amazed me people buy the "more public services mean higher tax for YOU" propaganda.   When the real problem is related to the fairness of the tax system.  Mitt Romney would love to have more people like you.

Before calling others DF, try to think independently once awhile.  I can see why you are so disapproval of teachers, as they failed to teach you basic reasoning.

If there are more people with professional degrees than the number of professional jobs available then these professional degrees don't mean anything.

In the old days, Bachelor's degree was a competitive edge.  Nowadays I look around in my office, Master degree is pretty much at the minimum - and I am not working in any hi-tech work.

Simply answer me:

1) are you willing to pay more income tax because of the raise from Union?

2) If not, can you tell me where the money can come from?

* yes. and according to you logic, if normal people like me who receive education here and fail in basic logic, then the teacher obviously didn't do a good job of teaching us.  If you statement is correct, then why teacher deserves to have a 15% raise and other better-than-normal-workers benefit?
If your statement is wrong, my reasoning is logical and sound, then what I said about teacher do not deserve an unreasonable raise will stand true.

Either way, teacher should not get a 15% raise.

If you cannot follow my logic, then that's mean you fail in basic logic, and your teacher fail.  So, they do not deserve the raise.  If you can follow my logic, then my statement will stand true, and you have no right to approve teacher for the raise, unless you contradict yourself.

If you contradict yourself, that's mean you fail in basic logic as well.   

The ultimate outcome is the same: Teacher DO NOT deserve a crazy and unreasonable 15% raise.
