The Chiu Chow on Fraser and 46/47 is quite good.
I tried their oyster cake, is good and we cannot finish it.
He pointed to my nephew, a 14yr kid, what? you can't finish it?
Actually, he doesn't like oyster however, he did tried some.

o... ACC-HE, if you are feeling adventurous, you can try out "Bo Laksa King". It's a take out place in a convenience store near Joyce sky train station. I've only tried their Laksa once and I liked it. I heard their Roti is good too but I was too full to try anything other than the Laksa. I don't live near there so it's hard for me to find time to go.
I've been cooking more at home lately.

i also vote Bonqula. this restaurant is completely underrated, IMHO. everything from the food to the people to the decor shows that they have heart.
another one of my votes goes to Sushi Hachi. small, cozy restaurant with reasonable prices for fresh sashimi and sushi; pays attention to food quality and presentation.
Hamilton Street Grill - exec chef Neil Wyles continues to put out solid food after 10+ years working the same gig

Agree with you for Hachi and HSG (I like their hanger steak - not the tender cut lol) but some of my friend disagreed. (e.g. service too slow, lots of item sold out, steak not melt in your mouth.. )
So I gave up recommending these places now.
