so teachers have the guts but with no reason.
If they have reason for a pay raise, simply say they deserve more instead of saying that the students benefits is what they fighting for.

Avg > 10% increase every year here so far, and above 75k..... but not GUARENTEED... not no pressure... don't have 3 months off every year... no collective bargaining... and tons of OT....

1) Yes and no, I wouldn't mind paying more Property Taxes to fund education, but no personal income increases until the problems in my answer no. 2 are fixed.
2) For starters, change how capital gains are taxed, and get rid of Carried Interest.

Before you threaten me with more taxes, do yourself a flavor by finding out income tax rate + payroll taxes rate for working people and those of a hedge fund manager.  But that is properly too advance for you, because it is not chewed and spoon feed to your month.  It does require facts checking using google search engine.

For 11 million dollar =  TD bank CEO for a year.

I am sure Ed Clark works very hard, hourly rate wise, by Jan 2, TD bank CEO will earn annual salary of a Teacher.  Call it greed or whatever, these people are just trying to make ends meet here in Vancouver.

It is not bank robbery, so hold your horses.

BCTF's demand back in September :
•A 22% increase in salary (the maximum would move from $74,353 to $90,944 a year).
•Doubling high school prep time from one spare per rotation to two; and increasing elementary prep time from 90 minutes per week to 357. Plus: two days off to write report cards, plus one hour off per individual student interim report.
• Up to 10 days off for the death of any friend or relative—plus two days more if travel is involved.
• Sick leave provisions for Teachers On call.
• Up to 26 weeks of fully paid leave per year to provide direct or indirect compaasionate care to any person.
• Eight days off a year whenever a teacher wants.
• Topping up parental and maternity leave to allow up to 5 years of leave per child.
• 5 more days off for professional development, at teacher’s discretion.
• Up to five days off a year to care for their child or any other person.
• Unlimited leave for teachers for union business.
• Big benefits upgrades—fully pay MSP, extended health and dental, applying to all teachers (no matter how many hours they work).
• Employer pays all professional fees.
• A number of improvements to Teacher On Call pay, including paying them $2,200 per month whether they work or not.

Your are demands put on a bargining table.  Very few of them will materialized.

Here is some public records
Deputy Minister of Eduction has 40% raise in pass 5 yr. to a cool 1/4 million, plus expenses of $130k/ year.  

Teacher get 2.5% to 0% in the pass few yr. Base salary for new teachers is 45K.

$45K is what an entry level office guy with basic education makes

Here, I don't think entry level CSR in bank can make that much.
