it doesn't smell at all.  I have 3 cats.  I just have to empty the tray every 4 days!  

And it uses only 20% of the cat litter compare to normal. (my experience)

The biggest negative is probably the space needed.

I spent years (no kidding) reading reviews, comparing with other products and waiting for it to mature.
