[日本料理] salmon sashimi

i have a relative visiting recently and he's craving for salmon sashimi...
now i dont eat raw stuff (yeahhh no sashimi for me) so i dont know what's good/ fresh and what's not...
where would be a good place to buy some to eat at home? or a good restaurant that has fresh and not too expensive salmon sashimi? preferably not all you can eat too.

thx thx

There are lots of good Japanese restaurants around town. In Richmond, my recent favorite is Ichiro in Steveston http://dinehere.ca/richmond/ichiro-japanese-restaurant Don't know if they have take out

If the only thing you are looking for is Salmon Sashimi, then it's not that hard to DIY.  In Richmond, you can go to izumi-ya, which is a Japanese supermarket at 7971 Alderbridge Way.  I am sure there is a lot of Japanese supermarket around...

Another way to go is just go to get take out, like Samurai Sushi House on Cambie and 41st..

I have heard different opinions on sashimi quality at Samurai Sushi House on Cambie and 41st. I have a few friends that had sashimi there a few years ago and they got food poisoning. Also another friend told me she overheard the staff there discussed about using expired fillet to serve as sashimi... Hopefully they have improved now.

Avoid to go there unless you want to be greeted by rats.
One of the most dirtiest Jap restaurant in Metro Vancouver.

the Salmon Shop ,  Seven Seas, Lonsdale Quay, Kosta's Seafood,
Sunrise Market, Kay's Seafood, T &T, Osaka, Hi-To Fish,
Angel Seafood, Yamato Trading, Nishimoto Tradings.........

Samurai on cambie... not recommended.  However, their Richmond one seems cleaner and fresher (west minster hwy, beside Jim Jai Kee)

They are run by the same Vietnamese brothers,
using Farm-raised Atlantic Salmon for sashimi which is prohibited in Canada,
Why there are still people who want illegal and dangerous fish for food(and pay for it)?
Doubt with what I say, call you local Public Health Department or CFIA

I've got sashimi from Angel Seafood and it's not bad. You will need to defrost the sashimi ahead (few hours) and have a sharp knife to cut it.
