If they want to live in, shop in and work in a fully Chinese speaking community, then expect the locals to get up set. I have been to these various malls and frankly, as a white person, I was rudely ignored and shunned. So i left and don't give them my business.
As for "Hate Crime" ... oh please. this is just the local boys and girls reacting to their home being taken over by wealthy out-of-state people who have no wish to join us in Canada, no they want to make their own little bit of China in Richmond. The enclave in Richmond should consider being more Canadian and maybe less of these kids will feel this way.
This is not Racism ... it is not the race of Chinese these kids are against, it is the culture of wealthy asian's who bring their entire extended families to live here in Canada, use our public system health and wealfare system, yet the $$$ earner still lives in Hong Kong so they pay no tax yet cost the system dearly.
How should we "Push Back" against these types of things? How would SUCCESS like the unhappy displaced locals to act? what things have the ChiCom community done to intergrate into Richmond? All I see are endless streets of mainly chicom signs and a lot of people who can't speak one of the two official languages.
We need to work together, all sides to learn to live together, all sides learning to adjust their ideas of fair play. Accept our differences and take the best from all.

Or we can keep going the way we are, wait for the MLF to start their defensive operations and hope there is enough left in the ashes to rebuild from.

Well then, stop their European style of living, along with their generations of European extended families, from ruining native soils then.

Canada is about multi-cultural. Every unique culture that departs from how Canada traditionally was, makes what Canada will be. It's just a part of it.

There is an organization that targets people who rips off public health and wealfare system, but pays no taxes because their earners are out of the country. It's called the CRA.

Some of their points are true, but just the white people can not accept the fact.

Eg, Wealthy Chinese took over many nice lands and houses, use the local education and health system. But they are not living in Canada and pay a little bit of taxes...

I am a new comer in Richmond from 10 years ago. I also don't like the fact that there are so many wealthy mainland Chinese driving their stupid N sign exotic cars in Richmond. But it is the reality, I should just accept it and find the way to enjoy the life in Canada. No one ask you to deal with those people...

The problem for White people is that they almost forgot they also took the land from native and they think their race and english/french should be the only thing in Canada. Any one who is not their race or speaking english/french are the outsider...

Some of the points in there are entirely valid; of course, a lot of it is utter crap as well.
There is certainly resentment among locals (and not just among Caucasians) that real estate prices are boosted up to unreachable heights because of wealthy immigrants (with Mainland Chinese being a major driving force there). Heck, as a typical Canadian, I am upset about that too. So this kind of resentment is understandable. It is also understandable that some people are pissed off because some (a lot of?) new immigrants seemingly have little desire to integrate into mainstream society. Most infuriating is that:

We all know how true and common this is in our society. The spirit of equality behind the Canadian government's social programs is to help those in need of them, and the system is continually being taken advantage of by many who obviously need it the least. So again, the frustration is entirely understandable.


Of course, despite the fact that the cause of resentment is entirely understandable, that does not make any of the racist action by these idiots acceptable.


The easy thing to say is that we need to better educate everyone involved -- how multiculturalism is important to Canadian values; how new immigrants need to integrate themselves into mainstream society and not just remain within their little ethnic community, etc. But that is all very easy to say, but rather difficult to implement and execute.


I wish my sociology background is stronger so that I would have some better insights.

think, if some white local canadian be rude to us ONCE or TWICE(in fact, I never encounter such case, which is lucky for me, but for those people who newly moved from Europe, that is another story), should we vow to ourselves that we should leave canada and move back to asia?
