Alert - New Threat Received at UBC-Pt Grey Campus Threat, Campus, Alert, Grey, Received

I just received this email from ubc:

Broadcast E-mail to All UBC Students, Faculty and Staff from President
Stephen J. Toope:

For the second time in a week, our Vancouver campus community has
received a threatening message.

In this second case, an unspecific threat has been made for Wednesday.
The threat does not specify a time, a location within the UBC Point
Grey campus or the method of doing harm.  

We must take such threats seriously, and we are working closely with
senior RCMP personnel to address this new threat.

What can we all do when faced with such a threat? We are taking the
advice of the RCMP to treat the non-specific nature of the threat with a
higher level of community vigilance but to otherwise continue our normal
activities.

However, because of the specific mention of the Biosciences building in
the threatening message received last week, and the traumatic
experience of the occupants who endured a full lockdown of the building at that
time, classes will be cancelled tomorrow (Wednesday) in the
Biosciences Building.

Vancouver, BC: The RCMP is investigating a further threat to UBC. The threat is less specific in nature than the threat received last week, but the tone is similar in that the individual is threatening to carry out the threat made last week.

In this case, the threat does not specify a location within the UBC Point Grey campus or the method of doing harm but does specify Wednesday as the day of the threat.

The investigation is continuing with an investigative team from the UBC RCMP Detachment, ‘E’ Division Major Crime, ‘E’ Division Behavioural Sciences and the Lower Mainland District Office.

The RCMP is asking this individual to come forward and seek the help he or she needs. There are caring people available to help through the UBC Counselling Service at 604-822-3811. Or, the individual can call the RCMP UBC Detachment at 604-224-1322 to be connected to counsellors.

The RCMP is maintaining an enhanced Point Grey campus presence. Due to the general and non-specific nature of the threat, and on the advice of the RCMP, The UBC campus will remain open on Wednesday February 6, 2008.

Both the university and the RCMP want to ensure that the community is aware of the potential threat so that they can remain vigilant.

Investigators cannot ascertain with any precision the level of danger or whether any danger exists, but are continuing to vigorously pursue the investigation into both threats.

The RCMP are asking anyone on the UBC Point Grey campus to be extra vigilant at this time and report suspicious activity to the RCMP at 604-224-1322 or 911.

UBC is big enough for anything... ahhah or it could be the SUB tmr =.=" sigh~  

close down the building  =  to lower down  the 'damage' and 'death' gwa...? but what if it's in other buildings tmr? um.................
