BOSTON (AP) -- Cancer patients, brace yourselves. Many new drug treatments cost nearly $100,000 a year, sparking fresh debate about how much a few months more of life is worth.

The latest is Provenge, a first-of-a-kind therapy approved in April. It costs $93,000 a year and adds four months' survival, on average, for men with incurable prostate tumors. Bob Svensson is honest about why he got it: insurance paid.

"I would not spend that money," because the benefit doesn't seem worth it, says Svensson, 80, a former corporate finance officer from Bedford, Mass.

This I totally agree with you. At that point, you might as well just give them something cheap and effective (ging pain killers or something?) because by then the goal should just be to ease the patient's pain and improve the quality of his remaining life, not to try and cure whatever it is that's killing the patient.

Now extend the same concept to other groups.  What about ppl who don't know who they are? What about people with serious mental problems who cannot control themselves? What about people of really old ages who cannot even step out of bed?

The goal of society as a whole is to make everyone as useful as they can be, and in doing so, tries to give everyone the best quality of life they can get. Just because someone has mental problems doesn't necessarily mean they can't contribute to society.

Given the choice, I think it is entirely more appropriate to kill off all the 賤人 in this world.
