Be the first to Comment 0 Recommendation(s) PRINCE GEORGE (NEWS1130) - The Vancouver Giants beat the Prince George Cougars 5-3 on the road in Prince George Friday night.
Vancouver took a quick two goal lead in the game, with captain Craig Cunningham scoring both the goals. The Cougars answered before the period was over, making it 2-1 after 1 period. In the second period Vancouver's James Henry scored to give his side a 3-1 lead, but the Cougars fought back, bringing them within one goal heading into the third period.
In the final period James Henry scored his second goal of the game to give his team a 4-2 lead, but once again Prince George scored, bringing them within striking distance.
Good defense and a late Brendan Gallagher goal from the Giants prevented the Cougars from scoring the tying goal to give them a 5-3 win.
Vancouver plays their second game of a double header on Saturday against the Cougars. It will be head Coach Don Hay's 800th career game as a head coach.
