I will put it into some kind of bond funds, with diversifications for countries & currencies. Personally I will choose TD High Yield Income Bond... with some explosure in high yield province bonds, some of them offer good rates and security, with that kind of horizon, not difficult to meet your goal... just don't put into any equity market since you mentioned security is a concern to you.
