Minister of State for Transport Rob Merrifield explains Ottawa's reluctance to waive a fee and committing to a second daily Amtrak run for good. "Well, there's a limited amount of resources available, so we will deal with that in due course."
He adds they do the best with the dollars they have. "Let's see where it goes in the future as we work with our American partners. We are in this together. They are going through a difficult time in America and they're financially strapped as well."
The City of Vancouver says the second daily Amtrak run brings in millions of extra dollars to the local economy. |
