Be the first to Comment 10 Recommendation(s) SOUTH SURREY (NEWS1130) - A heritage home in South Surrey has been destroyed in a spectacular early morning fire. Amateur video shows the front of the home collapsing completely as it is ravaged by the flames.
Bob Henning lives nearby and called News1130. "We heard the popping of the transformers out in front of the house. It sounded like fireworks. A lot of the neighbours raced over and we saw the flames. it's been attended to by about eight or ten fire vehicles."
He adds, "Now that it's collapsed, the firemen have been able to get a little bit closer. But I heard that it was about to come down, and they told everybody to get back. It was quite a fire."
Henning says the home, which was built in the 1800s, used to be owned by former Vancouver Canuck Ryan Walter. Everyone got safely. No word yet on how the fire started.
