Be the first to Comment 3 Recommendation(s) SURREY (NEWS1130) - Mounties in Surrey have closed off a stretch of King George Boulevard as they look into a deadly crash between a young woman and an RCMP cruiser.
It was around 9:40 p.m. Monday when an 18-year-old woman was crossing King George Boulevard, in an unmarked area; she was hit by the car and rushed to hospital. The victim, whose name is not being released, died en route.
A badly damaged police car, several markers and a lot of yellow police tape remain at the scene. Investigators are expected to be there throughout the day.
Surrey RCMP Staff Sergeant Blair McColl can't say if the cruiser was speeding to get to a call or whether it had its lights flashing. "At this point I don't know enough to give you a definitive answer. That will be part of the investigation done by Abbotsford [Police] certainly."
The Mountie involved in the crash was not hurt.
If you saw anything or have any information you are asked to call Abbotsford Police at 604.859.5225.
