BURNABY (NEWS1130) - Normally it's a quiet area where people walk their dogs. But it's now swarming with the homicide squad.
The area of Warner Loat Park is layered in police tape. Dozens of Mounties are also on the scene.
Cpl. Dale Carr of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says someone was walking in the municipal park at noon when they spotted a body in the bushes.
"Investigators are not prepared to disclose the gender of the individual. We're working through details. Hopefully we'll be able to reveal more this afternoon or evening," he explains.
Nothing indicates this is related to the discovery of a woman's body in a bag on the North Shore last week.
The area is very popular with dog walkers, and police say they have a lot of witnesses to speak with. The park is part of the Central Valley Walking and Cycling area, and is next to Burnaby Lake Regional Park.
Callers to News1130 indicate the body is that of a woman who met with some violence. |
