0 LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) - Get out your red and white! Big parties are being held across the Lower Mainland to celebrate Canada's 144th birthday:
Vancouver:
Granville Island -- All-day party 10 a.m. to midnight, parade at 1:30 p.m.
Canada Place -- Party with music on four stages 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., parade at 7 p.m., fireworks at 10:30 p.m.
Surrey:
Cloverdale Millenium Amphitheatre -- Biggest party in Western Canada. Trooper will be there, along with some Olympic athletes. 10 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
Burnaby:
Burnaby Village Museum -- A party in the 1920s village streets with parade, music, family entertainment 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., parade at 1:45 p.m.
Coquitlam:
Lafarge Lake and Evergreen Cultural Centre -- Food, music, arts 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
North Vancouver:
Party at Waterfront Park 12 p.m to 4 p.m.
West Vancouver:
John Lawson Park -- Live entertainment 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., fireworks at 10:30 p.m.
Richmond:
Steveston Community Centre -- Coincides with Steveston Salmon Festival, complete with parade at 10 a.m.
Langley:
McLeod Athletic Park -- Live performances, family-friendly activities. Two-day event: Thurs, June 30th 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Fri, July 1st 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
White Rock:
Canada Day at the Bay -- All-day party along East and West beaches from 10 a.m. to dusk. Fireworks at 10:15 p.m. |
