Long delays expected as SkyTrain service

Long delays expected as SkyTrain service to downtown Vancouver disrupted

METRO VANCOUVER - SkyTrain passengers can expect long delays during this morning's commute into downtown Vancouver.

Translink is reporting that technical problems with trains in the downtown area have disrupted service between Commercial-Broadway and the downtown stations.

Because of the problem, "a number of trains have to be cleared from the area between Commercial-Broadway and downtown," said Translink spokesman Drew Snider in a press release. "There is no SkyTrain service in that area until that's been done."

Trains are only going as far as Commercial-Broadway, he said.

Translink has set up a bus bridge at the Commercial-Broadway station to take passengers downtown, and is also advising passengers to take the 99 B-Line to Broadway-City Hall station where they can transfer downtown via the Canada Line.

"Technicians are working on the problem," Snider said.

They should not be cutting corners when maintaining the system. High quality parts should be used instead. The passengers are dissatisfied with the system again.

Inside news? Where is the proof? I am open to evidences.

Funny that you would bring up China.

The Expo Line and Millennium Line use Bombardier's Advanced Rapid Transit (ART) technology.

When the Millennium Line was built, TransLink used Mark II ART trains from Bombardier Transportation, which were manufactured in a Burnaby factory.

SkyTrain service in Vancouver has been fully restored after service was shut down between the Commercial-Broadway and Stadium stations around 6 a.m. PT Monday.

Just before 10 a.m. TransLink said full service was restored, but delays are expected and extra bus service between the stations was being kept in place in order to ease congestion, according to spokesman Drew Snider.

"It appears that the train had picked up something along the track and that caused a break in one of the loops, which is the communication feature between the central control computer and the train. When that happens the computer just shuts everything down for safety reasons," said Snider.

Millennium Line trains were running VCC-Clark to Sapperton and turning back with a shuttle between Columbia and Sapperton.

OIC... You make things much clear this time. There's nothing to do with the parts.
