VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - There are calls for resolution workshops that could help reduce potentially volatile situations on transit. The bus drivers union and Coast Mountain Bus Company agree there should be more of them to avoid any problems.
Canadian Auto Workers Local 111 President Don MacLeod believes it's an opportunity to limit confrontations, adding not everyone is capable of dealing with tense situations.
"Our members are under a lot of stress everyday out there, [there are] lots of demands on them. Conflict resolution could certainly give the opportunity to give some new tools to help diffuse the situation and stop it from escalating."
The call comes just a few days after a foreign student claimed he was attacked by a driver near Metrotown.
Coast Mountain does offer a couple of courses every month, but the regular program came to an end a couple of years ago because of cash and staffing issues. |
