VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The NDP thinks you're being deceived over when the HST would go if we vote "yes" in the referendum.
The federal finance minister says based on conversations with BC Finance Minister Kevin Falcon, he's satisfied the harmonized sales tax will remain in place until 2015. That would mean the provincial government could be sticking with terms of its contract with the feds whether the tax is voted out or not.
The New Democrats say Premier Christy Clark has been promising to change the tax back within 18 months.
It is a no win situation. By keeping the HST the Liberal "might" lower the HST rates but if whoever take down and breach the HST contract with the Federal meaning we have to pay back the already spent 16 billion big dollars special incentive funds! Let me ask how our BC government can come up with this kind of money? God knows how much more taxes they will come up with to compensate that!!! I have a feeling we might have to pay 12% of PST + 5% GST if they take down the HST before 2015.
