Stormy start to the week
Strong winds, heavy rains should taper off during afternoon commute

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Get ready for another storm and make sure you batten down the hatches. There is a wind warning for Metro Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast and the Gulf Islands.
This morning's first few raindrops will quickly turn into heavy showers during the commute home this afternoon, and that's not even the worst of it. Over the next few hours, the wind will be blowing out of the southeast, climbing to between 60 km/h and 80 km/h.
The storm shouldn't last too long, News1130 meteorologist Russ Lacate says the storm front will pass by the middle of the afternoon meaning the wind will ease and the rain will taper off.
Rain will be really heavy at times for the coastal sections throughout the day an tonight with some areas getting between 60 to 80 millimetres of rain today through to Tuesday morning.
Meantime, BC Hydro says now is good time to check your flashlight batteries and a few other things around the house just in case there is a power outage.
