MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS1130) - It may be a couple of weeks before traffic flow on the Golden Ears Bridge is back to normal.  Crews are still working on a project begun earlier this year.

The work was delayed by the nasty weather this summer.  "We had a very wet spring and early summer, and so we were quite delayed in our ability to go in there and take advantage of dry weather," says TransLink's Ken Hardie.

The bridge is getting new joints, to reduce the noise filtering down to nearby homes.

Motorists caught up in delays won't be getting toll rebates.  "Every bridge is going to have its moments where traffic is restricted for very good operational reasons. We regret the delay, but the value drivers get on a day-to-day basis of using the bridge certainly offsets a one day occurrence like this," Hardie insists.

He says the work, weather-permitting, should be done in a couple of weeks.
