Google及Samsung的高層來港推介最新的Galaxy Nexus

由於是全球首發，今日發布會現場「香港會展」逼得水泄不通

　　Google及Samsung第一次在香港進行發布會，一併公布最新的旗艦手機Galaxy Nexus以及最新Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)作業系統。

用家可以對不同Widgets有更多不同的設定

　　Galaxy Nexus拿上手，最吸引筆者的是其「巨屏」。大的顯示屏的確是大勢所趨，皆因智能手機用途愈來愈多，更大的顯示屏變成是一個必需品而非錦上添花。Samsung一向以顯示屏質素而自豪，亦不用其他用家懷疑。Galaxy Nexus使用4.65吋(GS2只是4.3吋)的高清AMOLED，解像度達到1,280 x 720(GS2是800x480)，單是這一個規格就已經贏了iPhone4S幾條街。

　　新機雖然仍採用1.2GHz的雙核心晶片，但筆者使用新機時，感覺仍然是很快及很爽，相信新系統的優化能減低晶片的負荷。拿Galaxy Nexus跑一趟Benchmark，不過分數極低，但這不會令筆者有所戒心，始終新系統未能讓測試程式跑得更快，稍後相信會有更佳表現。

擁有人面分辨技術，不是機主不能開啟手機

新增了Beam及NFC功能，主要是用作與其他手機資料互換

　　Android新作業系統4.0亦給予新用家不少全新體驗。新增了Face Unlock功能，用家只要對準鏡頭Galaxy Nexus才會解鎖；更強勁的日程及電郵App，值得一提，電郵App可以讓用家Offline瀏覽過去30日的Gmail電郵，方便Data量有限的用家。Android 4.0亦更新了聯絡人程式，可以讓用家為聯絡人貼上高清圖片，來電時顯示會有更大張的大頭照；該程式亦與其他社交網絡程式有更多整合，用家在系統任何地方，只要按下對應聯絡人的圖片，均可以即時彈出該聯絡人的聯絡方式。

相機只有500萬像素令人有倒退的感覺

　　攝像鏡頭是令筆者有點猶豫的地方，猶豫在於應該是彈還是讚。500萬像素可以說得上是倒退得令用家震驚(GS2及iPhone 4S均是800萬像素)，不過內涵還是不俗。接近零時滯的快門、相與相之間的時距縮減，拍攝上是比較方便。另外Google加入了「一掃全境」的功能，以及拍攝短片時可以有多種即時特效，為相機部分加了不少分數。這裡算是軟件遠遠拋離硬件。

　　以上這些均只是筆者對Galaxy Nexus的初步印象，日後筆者拿到試用版時再為大家詳細介紹 (特別是介面未有中文顯示這方面亦要再作跟進)。簡而言之，Android 4.0 擊敗了 iOS5、Galaxy Nexus 亦贏了iPhone4S，再加上Smasung透露新機將會以有競爭性的價錢出售，絕對是值得期待的大作！

Not necessary true ge... come around and say... if Samsung says "I don't care about your business" to Apple and ended the supplier relationship. See see who is in more trouble?? Best business today is vertical integration, where you have everything done in house, and Apple.. is not at that level yet even they have a lot of cash.

I will get the Galaxy Nexus even it looks like a piece of brick!

Problem with Android... for someone that just want to whip out a phone and just use it. It's inferior to iPhone. Most people just use their phone. Need to look nice and work nice out of the box. Those stock Samsung Android stock interface icons are some of the most passionless icons ever. Just turning on your phone makes you not wanna bother learning it. They need to poach some Apple UI guys and need to do it fast.

I am tech savvy, but I just don't have time for this crap. Most my co-workers are 6 fig+ technical people. Semi-con design/dev, etc. Geeky as hell. All use iPhone. No one even blink an eye to Android. Nobody have time to play with custom ROM and such. Out of the box, iPhone looks good, uniform UI with strict functional and stylistic standard for every App before it's allowed to be released. No headache, all works.

What most people use is stock form, + at max an App or 2. Not a lot of people have all day to fiddle with the OS all day. Just find out what I want, give me as close as you can of what I want, with 0 overhead on my part. Just friggin work and work well! I don't have time to tweak it. It's just that simple.


Apple have developed this reputation where things just work, so just buy it and start doing things with it, as opposed to buy it and do things to get it working. Android will first need to develop in this mainstream direction, and then it needs to gain such a reputation... Then it will be able to take the mainstream business. Until then, it will be a slow battle...

I understand your comparison, it's like some people who buy race ready stock cars for racing. Then there are those who likes to put things together and get their hands dirty and race it. One thing for sure, the time and effort spent fixing things is still cheaper than buying something ready-made! I admit I am cheap, and I am not letting Apple take any more of my $$$.

The mentality are different, therefore the marketplace can accomodate both. There is absolutely nothing wrong about it, it's a matter of choice. At the end of the day, when I brag about the new ROM I made/improved in XDA gives me more motivations to keep doing it. This is innovation.
