VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - City councillors have already turned down a mega-casino but Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson says Vision Vancouver will put a moratorium on gambling expansion if they win power again in November.

"It's very consistent with the decision we made last spring. What we're saying now is that for the next three years we won't consider another proposal. We won't put the public through that via referendum and the costs associated."
   
Robertson says he's not concerned with losing gambling revenue, saying the city's economy relies very little on gaming money.
   
But a casino lobby group is pointing out the benefits of gaming in the form of money and jobs. Lots of them.

The Canadian Gaming Association says gaming puts 37-thousand people to work in BC and it also pumps more than 2-billion dollars into the economy each year.

But CEO Bill Rutsie still doesn't want to weigh in on Robertson's campaign promise.

"I'm sitting here in Toronto and far be it for me to try to influence a civic election in Vancouver. I'll simply say that when you look at the history of gaming in British Columbia, on balance it's been very, very good for the province."

Vision Vancouver has accepted campaign donations from the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation in the past.

其實大家贊唔贊成起Las Vegas式嘅大型賭場？當然，好多人一聽到個賭字都話唔好，但係有幾多人去vegas旅行而真係去賭嘅呢？講真，我唔賭(入＄5去玩slot machine唔算賭掛)但係都真係幾鐘意去玩架，住食都咁平靚正。百幾蚊一晚住五星級酒店，holiday inn都唔得啦，仲有show睇。至於罪案問題，唔覺得las vegas strip 好差，就算local 有啲casino，都無乜聽見好多罪案。相信manage得好唔會太差。你哋點睇？

有大型賭場，有組織罪案就會增加，市政府有冇足夠財力人手同魄力去處理呢？？如果佢地拍心口話「有」，又俾到計劃書出黎，都可以一做既。
