I am planning to go to vegas AND grand canyon at the same time I definitely need some suggestions.

1.  It seemed like it is much cheaper when buying flight tickets and hotels (or even bidding cars) separately vs. buying the package ......I checked departure for both vancouver and bellingham and I still find doing the "package" myself way cheaper .....  ( and better flight time/ direct flight too if I get my own flights).  Is that true? or am I just missing some great website deals? (I guess I have to be specific for the fact that I would prefer 5 star hotels, preferably cosmo/aria/vdera)

2.  Where and when is the best time to hunt for show ticket deals (or flight deals or hotel deals)?

3.  How much do you guys normally tip for room upgrades and if possible, waiving resort fee ? (I've heard complaining works but I am trying to avoid doing that)

1) depends.  u have to check actively.  better to check flight tickets earlier and in weekday day time.  but, u know.. nowaday, everything is seafood price.  so no guarantee u will get the best deal.  as long as u get a deal u can afford and u feel good, then just do it.  don't wait.
2) as early as possible
3) tip for room upgrade? u can't get upgrade by tips wor.    u can't waive resort fee by tips...

For free room upgrade, search Las Vegas $20 tips on Google.
I just did it for Cosmo and upgraded to a room with kitchen and balcony.

The way to do it is to slip it inside your passport while checking in.  I've heard people putting $20 I've heard putting $50.  I just want to get the idea of the "benchmark price".

I have also heard people saying they came for honeymoon and got the resort fees waived.  And the other way is complaint right away when the room cleanup job is not done properly/ bottled water is not there....and.....I don't want to go by this route......... :S

really??  that i haven't heard about.   Sounds like improper wor. hahaha.

let me ask my frds who work in hotel

However, when i was in SF few months ago, I got upgrade because the room's hot water is not hot.  I got upgrade to a deluxe designer style room.   But that's a legitimate complain though. lol

Haha, yes "improper" but that is a sin city XD..... that's how front desk made better fortune under this economy I guess....and when I googled the 20 dollar tip trick thing it does show success rate of 84%........if they can't find anything they will pay you back ~

Anyways, last night I successfully bid Vdera hotel for 4 nights at $69/ night on Priceline.  I am very happy!

I wish, unfortunately you can't.... I just narrowed down the hotels i liked (Vdera, Aria, Cosmo) using http://www.biddingtraveler.com/, which is a tool that helps you to look at historical prices and hotels in such area.  Before I place my bid I also checked the prices and RATINGs at hotwire + express deals at hotwire.....managed to narrow it down that way.

My success rate so far is 100% at Vegas (for the $20 upgrade tips)
You can do the same for car rental at Vegas too...haha

You can bid on priceline on specific? Nice!

To be fair, I think any hotel on the strip is decent. Just some are more decent/upscale. If you plan to sleep a lot, then go for more decent, otherwise I tend to find a good bed and play all day the day after.
