Good article. Always been the case. There are some recent movement that seems to want to move Canadian schooling more closer to HK schooling model (albeit only very slightly). Not saying the North American way is perfect. But it's obvious that HK schooling model is the one that is a comparative failure. I still recall the days one'd claim that students from HK have a huge lead compared to the local schools when it comes to math, etc. Yet now that I've been working in the real world, it's obvious that how little all those matters.

That said, the 3D printer talk in the article really is very odd. Wut's that have to do with the rest of it. Times have changed, but listing 3D printer as an example? As a revolution in manufacturing? Might have over exaggerated. Rapid prototyping have always been around for a few decades already. Cost have come down, but don't think it'll have any significant impact to manufacturing as a whole?

I dont think 本地的太鬆, at least for the elementary school students. kids in their ages, should have no, or just little stress at all. What they should learn are like, how to take care themselves, some very basic math, language (for inter-person communication) and little science to make them interest to the world.

What?  that's call pressure????

school is not a pressure but a pleasure.   Geeezzzz...

If the kids cannot survive in school, how can they survive in the society?   Just pressure on HW, compare to so many things after graduate.. That's really nothing.  however, it is important for the kids to face the challenge at school, and know how to handle it

so, the problem is NOT whether there are too many HWs and too many pressure (it is quite subjective.  for ppl who don't like school, even 1 hw a week is too much), is it the school has to help kids face the pressure, face it, deal with it, guide them.  not just "HW, mark it, get a grade".

pressure or pleasure, depends on the ages. Of course we all think school is pleasure, but not to the kids OK?

I don't really agree that kids should have no stress at all.
Part of the learning process, is to memorize stuff. And the best time to memorize, is at the kid stage. If no homework to reinforce the learning, unless they are genius, will not "learn" much.
Without good "basis", when kids go to high school, will be really tough to catch up.

I would say homework is necessary, and of course this will cause some "stress" to certain degree. But of course not homework till 11 or 12 every night... An hour homework time I think it's acceptable.

I dont mean no stress, but the asian style of stress is just too much to the kids
