I think there will be penalty if I want to get a phone with their "tab24". So that's not an option until my agreement is done... I don't think my old iphone4 can last another year...

These days storage depends on how many videos and photos you're producing and sharing, how many apps you will be using, etc... For flexibility, go for the 16GB...

Make sure you get a different colored case so you don't get the phones mixed up. Even my parents have issues now with all the "Nexus" products in the house.
Welcome to the world of Android and keep a charger on hand, the battery doesn't last more than 15 hours on stock OS.
It all depends... response time, handwriting recognition accuracy, word dictionary, traditional/simplified Chinese transition, English combo keyboard, emoji, speech recognition, ... etc.
I'm using touchpal at the moment... The other I would consider is iFlytek, Google Chinese input and Go keyboard.
