i know that canned are OK because i brought canned tuna for my friend in HK.
Dried foods (ie: chinese dried mushrooms, dried oysters) are OK,
u cannot bring cooked meat unless it is canned.
for seafood, it is best to have them frozen and sent over by cargo in a foam box OR have them sent along as an extension to your luggage (as a third luggage)
I mean from hong kong to Vancouver, does canada custom allow cooked seafood? I want to make sure because my sister wants to bring some cooked seafood from HK to here. But I'm not sure if that's possible.....
I do not work for CFIA and I am telling something based on experience.
It should be OK bringing in the sea food, not meat, as long as the sea food is dry, well packed without sting smell and the quantity is for personal use.
Best bet the one who bring in this stuff is a vistor that can excuse they do not know and the stuff are for gift.
i bring seafood back to hongkong everytime i go back for visit, as for china you have to sneak it in, i dont' think they allow import seafood. i'm 100% shure hong kong is fine.
let me know if you want to pack seafood, i know a place that sell all kinds of seafoods and pack it for you.
My friend's parent brought cooked Alaska King Crab back to Taiwan couple times.
They told me Taiwan don't have that. It packed in a foil paper and a plastic box
As long as it is "SEAFOOD" then it's fine no matter is frozen, dried, canned ...
of course can't be live. If it is LIVE ANIMAL, it has to go through "AIR CARGO".
for import, check CBSA (Canadian Border Service Agency) or Airline.
Err.... sorry folks, I think what katamari is asking is "to bring seafood (and meat) FROM HK TO VANCOUVER" wor?

Haha Katamari. is that the only interesting topic you can come up with so far haha.
