I'm going to attend my cousin's wedding in August in Calgary. Is there any good place to visit there? (in terms of sight seeing...)

I'll consider my husband a "faster than average" driver...how long would it take from Van to Calgary? We are thinking of stay over in some places in between. Does it worth it? But hotels aren't cheap...

If you were to choose to visit between the dinasour museum and West Edmonton mall, which one will you choose?

If I remember correctly...from Vancouver to Calgary is about 10 hours of drive including the timezone change and lunch/washroom breaks.

Lots of tourist attractions along the way, like Lake Louise, Jasper, Banff...you name it!

I'd choose Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller for sure la....a place you must go!

I'd pick the dinosaur museum..it's a great place! West Edmonton mall is just a mall with the same shops as any mall you'd fine in BC...well, except for the tax-free stuff.

As Shutterbug said planty of good senceric places to visit in the Canadaian Rockies such as Banff, Jasper, Lake Lousie .  If time is not a concern, you can take your time to hop from one site to the other. I personally think that Columbia Icefield is definitely the place to visit. It woud be quite an expeience to take the hugh bigfoot vehicle to the glacier and feel the glacier  yourself.

For driving, take it easy especially in the mountain roads.

Columbia Icefield is shrinking so badly now...it's sad to see....

It's used to be breathtaking to see....but not anymore...

Thanks guy. How about inside City of Calgary? Anything special to see?
I have been to the Rockies/Icefield/Banff. So it's not a "must see" this time. And I'm thinking only take 5 days. Minus 2 days driving and 1 day wedding banquet. Not much time left. So I'm just trying to see what other place to visit?

NOTHING to do in Calgary .  beside over price food .  over price hotel .. and worst service in Canada ..

Anyway .. NORMALLY ..  only 8.5 hr from Vancouver to Calgary ..   ( 5 yr ago ) but the problem now is ..  lots and lots of construction on highway 5/1 and if u go on a weekend, lots of SUPER SLOW drivers in the golden/Rev areas ..  ( with big RV )

So ..  ~ 300km  time .. you can't even go more then 80km/hr ...  and with most area doing 110km;/hr ..   so .. to be safe, 10 hr !!!

But  WHY ?? WHY ?? WHY ???  unless you hv good close friends in Calgary .. otherwise ..  DON'T COME!!   

You better spend more time in Banff, Lake Louie, Ice Field, Jasper and Edmonton ..  


SKIP Calgary la..   waste gas ..  waste money ....
