If pay is not your main concern, have you consider doing some volunteer works for a non-profit organization?

You can gain some good experience, possibility for good reference.., and improves your people networks as well.

I am actually working as an IT person at a non profit social service organization in Seattle.  And I love it.

I think it really depends on luck. In any organization, there are always good and bad people. It's a matter of luck. But in general I believe that IT company has less politics, than financial institutes.

Indeed, IT jobs is not too hard to find in these 2-3 years as there are not enough graduate from Comp sci. Most IT companies offer excellent working environment (to a point of spoiling the employees) but expect lots of OTwhen deadlines are up... in terms of politics.... it really depend how big of a corporate u work for...

Lol... my work place pays starting at $9.3/hr... and they hire almost everyone. now that's easy eh
