Do my friend need to get visa to China if he already had a valid 回鄉証 get, visa, already, friend, need

My friend in USA is planning to go to China during X'mas.  He is a US citizen or at least with a green card. If he has a valid 回鄉証, do you think he needs to apply for an additional visa to China ?

Would you guys please get me to me ASAP, so I can relay your answer to my friend.

he will need a visa unless he go through hong kong

If he is a US citizen, that means his nationality is not China anymore and he will need a visa.

well if he has a valid HKID...he will be able to use 回鄉証 if he goes to china through hong kong (you have to go through HK immigration..then get out and enter china as a HK permanent resident)

My friend is in a similar situation.  He has Canadian Passport and HK permanent ID as well as 回鄉証.  He is going to China by Japan Airline, that means, he will need to flight transfer in Tokyo before entering China.   So if in this case, does he need a Visa?  Thanks in advance for any tips.

i think he will need a visa unless he goes into china though hong kong
