Again Traum could not refrain himself and made an attack instead of a complaint. As shown in the later parts of the article by Manthorpe, the point was not about denying the occurrence of the Nanking Massacre, but the overuses of the event as political leverage-by the Chinese as well as the Japanese. The phrase "multiple interpretation" no doubt is controversial for those sensitive to the issue and perhaps should not had been used.

Thinking logically, interpretation is not the word to describe a person's stand if he is denying the existence of something. If the event does not exist, there is nothing to interpret! The article tried to present different views on the subject, and it is folly to fault the author if you strongly disagree with some of those views. May be Manthorpe should had presented the opinions of Chinese extremist radicals and not just of the Japaneses'. I doubt Manthorpe is trying to cleverly disguise his Nanking Denial sentiments when he wrote the title, nor does the article itself prove to be slanted to the levels of propaganda.

It seem this echo Truam previous excursion with columnists.

wow traum's engl is so good! and I totally agree that it is like ppl denying holocaust happened at all
after reading the article, i really dunno how to respond except to feel sad and disgust

Traum, you did the right thing by complaining to that anti-China moron. We should all do the same by sending complaint emails. You see, this guy has been writing anti-China articles for quite some time. Even before 1997, he was bashing China/Hong Kong through his Vancouver Sun articles. It seems that he always has some sort of bias against China in all his China-related articles.

We should do a follow up, by informing all Chinese media, TV, newspaper. Also, there are local Chinese organizations in Vancouver and Toronto which are fighting for an apology from Japan with regard to Japanese war crimes and the "comfort ladies" issue. I don't have their website or email now. But all Chinese media should be able to contact them. These organizations will for sure ask him to apologize to all the Chinese all over the world for his inaccurate articles.

We should unite and talk back to these anti-China white racists who think they can write whatever they want without considering historical facts.

Maybe it should have been "had had" instead of "has had"
