中國大陸豪客愛吃猴子腦，令猴子野味宴大行其道，廣東佛山市順德區早前驚現運載近百隻猴子的貨車，開進一家酒樓供烹調猴子宴。大陸警方消息稱，不排除部分猴子由「獵猴兵團」在香港非法捕獵，經水路偷運返大陸供銷售食用，當地警方已對事件展開調查。

廣東順德一酒家門外，近期發現一輛滿載近百隻猴子的貨車，懷疑有人準備烹調供老饕享用。該批猴子幾乎全是獼猴，不排除有部分來自香港金山郊野公園。香港漁護署承認，年初至今在金山郊野公園共發現八個捕獸器，惟未發現獵捕猴子的可疑人。
上月24日下午2時許，佛山市順德區居民張先生目擊，一輛大陸貨車運載近百隻猴子，開進當地一間酒家，懷疑酒家準備為食客烹調猴宴。記者接報抵達該酒家時，發覺貨車已不知所終，酒家負責人否認有猴子宴供應。
司機稱供表演用
張先生稱，當時他曾詢問貨車司機，車上猴子用途，司機稱只是拿去表演，但在場十多名圍觀者紛紛指責司機說謊，一名長者更說：「表演哪裏要上百隻猴子，肯定是給人吃猴腦！」
張又稱，如果猴子是用作表演，肯定會加以善待，但感覺有關人士對猴子的態度很差，例如一隻鐵籠內塞了五、六隻猴子，部分猴子的臉及四肢更有傷。佛山順德區公安分局表示，未接到相關舉報。
據悉，該批猴子品種為獼猴，與香港金山郊野公園的獼猴群為同一品種。有大陸警察表示，廣東山區亦有猴群聚居，但經長期捕獵已大為減少，加上猴子宴需求激增，令大陸猴子供不應求，不排除不法之徒到香港捕捉，偷運返廣東銷售，供老饕享用猴腦、猴肉等。
該警察稱，若司機持有猴子的檢疫證，並證明猴子只用作表演，執法人員也無權扣車。但警方又說：「有人會弄來假證明，方便運輸猴子到飯店！」
香港漁護署發言人證實，今年初至上月底，在金山郊野公園共發現八個捕獸器，但未發現猴子或狗被捕捉，也未發現可疑人士。根據香港《野生動物保護條例》，香港野猴受法例保護，任何人若違規捕殺，最高可罰款10萬港元及入獄一年。

I can only say it is a shame and  un-humane.
I'm not vegetarian, however, we eat only animals raised for meat purpose
and slaughtered in a way that minimize their suffering.

this news is quite disturbing.. everyone from hk will have some memory of feeding monkeys on "monkey mountain", they've been around for so long and everyone loves them ....... sigh there are so many monkeys there and very hard to catch the criminals.. from the look of it, this monkey business will only keep happening

Frankly speaking, I have never fed any monkey before... Monkeys in "monkey mountain" are terrible for tourists. They stolemy BBQ food all the time when I BBQ there! If someone carries a "wellcome" or "PK" plastic bag, monkeys would rob it immediately!

Although I really don't like those monkeys, I strongly disagree to eat them because of hygiene issue.

sigh... sometimes i feel bad for not feeling proud of being a chinese because what some mainland chinese do, but their behaviors are quiet disturbing to make me shame...

after all, being a honger, ppl still identify me as chinese.

i really don't know how ppl can eat monkey, esp raw monkey's brains.
Hopefully, there won't be any virus or diseases widespread because of this.
these ppl always think of new ideas to make money, fake egg, fake dumplings, now monkey. i wish they would spend more time to think of ideas to save the planet....

Of course, our 5 Cent Peter will probably come out and call morons because don't have no idea what this traditional Chinese delicacy is like. But now that I've called out on what he'll do, he'll probably do the exact opposite~

Of course, our 5 Cent Peter will probably come out and call morons because don't have no idea what this traditional Chinese delicacy is like. But now that I've called out on what he'll do, he'll probably do the exact opposite~

Lik, I know what you mean. What if the monkey are being fed like a pig, and ppl eat the monkey's brain like a pig brain?

I really hate the traditional way to eat monkey brain, it is extremely cruel. However, there must be some ppl in the world who don't think that it is a problem. For them, I would like to tell them because of the hygiene issue, eating those "monkey mountain"'s monkeys is not good for health.
