Six people were injured in a crash at Blundell Centre when a senior plowed into a Starbucks patio.
A woman in her 70s was parked in front of the coffee shop at No. 2 and Blundell roads just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8.
According to RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Pound, the woman intended to reverse, but instead her vehicle lurched forward into the patio.
A woman in her 20s and man in his 40s were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Another four victims of the crash refused medical care and were able to walk away.
Police have ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash, and are continuing to investigate.
I think CP is in the right track...
My mom was thinking of getting a new Lexus and she currently drives a Volvo (she is not 70 yet... but I think ... she would prob pick the same cars when she is 70)
I was in a free shuttle from car dealership maintainence department with an old lady in her late 60s or early 70s.
She was talking about how much she loves her red Volvo.....
it's odd tho... i always put myself into the wrong gear (1 and R is just beside each other in some 6spd manual transmissions). I'd however, notice it right away before my car probably moves more than an inch as I apply gas.... Do people just punch the gas right away when they put themselves into R? I thought everyone eases onto the accelerator, esp when doing reverse in a parking lot?
